JCoSS School - Italia Bin Stores

JCoSS (Jewish Community Secondary School) in Barnet, North London, is a pilot project for parent-promoted voluntary aided schools. The Government contributed £36 million towards the building cost and a further £10 million was raised through a fund-raising campaign.

Sustainability was a key design requirement for the new school building, incorporating the use of natural daylight and ventilation as well as a biomass boiler and rainwater harvesting. This also included the installation of a series of wheelie-bin stores for the recycling of kitchen and general waste.

Three separate fully enclosed bin stores were specified; one double, one triple and one quadruple. These were manufactured by Lang+Fulton from Italia-80 steel louvred panels and supplied complete with box profile roof sheeting and support steelwork for ground bolting. The robust modular bin stores were hot-dip galvanized for long lasting durability.
