Priory School in Croydon

Squeezed between suburban houses and woodland, the Priory School in Croydon accommodates 132 secondary students with severe, complex and challenging learning difficulties, and is the first purpose-designed ‘forest school’ in London. The multi-storey building and external landscaping sits comfortably alongside the natural woodland, which is designated as a site of Nature Conservation Importance.

Given the highly-specialised nature of the Priory’s teaching environment, the choice of perimeter fencing was carefully considered.

Italia-80V panels with I-posts were specified to create a semi-screened enclosed area for vehicle access and parking. Two large single-leaf gates 4m and 4.5m wide and a double-leaf gate 8m wide were designed to allow the parking bays to be used to maximum efficiency, These were hung on 200x200x6mm posts and tapered plates were added to the base of the gates to accommodate the fall in ground level. Four additional single gates were supplied for pedestrian access.

2m high Roma-3 fencing and gates with RHS posts were chosen to secure the front and rear of the building with an adjoining 2.6m high section enclosing an adjacent sub-station.

In addition, 1m high Roma-3 fencing with seven single gates was used within the landscaped area  to subdivide recreation zones.

The Italia-80V and Roma-3 perimeter fencing was hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated, colour RAL7012; the Roma-3 internal fencing was hot-dip galvanized only.
