Finishing

Galvanizing

All products are supplied hot-dip galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461 unless stated otherwise.

Galvanized products may randomly exhibit rough texture on the finished surface, dissimilar colour characteristics and will oxidise when exposed to the elements.

Galvanizing & Polyester Powder Coating

Subsequent to hot-dip galvanizing, a multi-stage process applies thermo-setting resins producing a significantly superior finish to painting. Polyester powder coating is available in any RAL or BS colour in full accordance with BS EN 13438. In order to meet this standard and receive certification, the complete process has to be continuous and applied at the same location.

Polyester powder coating provides a smoother finish which is less attractive to dust and dirt. It is always recommended for schools, balconies, etc.

Most products with a polyester powder coated finish can be supplied in any RAL colour. Note: some non-standard colours may incur a premium charge.

Advice on Aftercare

Corten

Italia-80 and Italia-100 louvres are now uniquely available manufactured from Corten or weathering steel. Corten is a steel alloy which eliminates the need for painting by forming a stable rust-like patina. The layer protecting the surface develops and regenerates continuously when subjected to the influence of the weather. The appealing quality is that the steel changes colour over the course of time, changing from russet to sand brown and finally to dark brown.

Although Corten as a raw material is more expensive than regular mild steel, the end cost of the manufactured panel is similar, as  it does not need to be galvanized or polyester powder coated.

Other positive factors:
a) by eliminating any requirement for the usual finishing treatments, Corten has a low environmental impact
b) Corten is completely maintenance free for its entire life-cycle.
