Louvred screening and emergency escape stairs at Milton business and technology Park

Park Drive East has been built to meet the growing demand for science and business space at both Milton Park and in the wider Oxfordshire area. The new buildings have been specifically designed to provide high-tech laboratory facilities and office space and a pre-let agreement saw the relocation of Oxford Immunotec, a global diagnostics company.

Lang+Fulton were involved in the supply of balustrade infill panels, open mesh flooring, stair treads and louvred screening for the external escape stairs. There were five stairs towers in total, 10.7m and 15m high, which were also designed to provide access to service facilities. The louvred panels effectively screened all the ducting for these services and were supplied with demountable panels with D-handles for inspection points at each landing and at ground level. The result was a smart solution in keeping with the quality and high specification of the development.

The louvred screening was hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated RAL7016.

SRA Architects have commented, “ Park Drive East is a model MEPC development that has achieved a successful balance of brand quality, design excellence, flexibility and capital investment and reflects the British Council for Offices ‘Best Practice’”.
