Architect designed Cycle Shelter in Oxford City Centre
A Cycle Shelter provides safe storage for bikes at the Mill Stream House luxury apartments, part of the new retail-led Westgate quarter in Oxford. In order to reduce traffic and encourage cycling within the inner city, no provision was made for car parking within the development; as an alternative, each property was sold with secure storage for two bicycles.
The bike store features Italia-80V steel louvred panels. On the North and South elevations the top edge of the panels were raked from 2.95m to 3.35m to follow the 3° slope of the roof, designed for rainwater management.
The panels were hot-dip galvanized and finished with a polyester powder coating (RAL7037) to contrast with the support steelwork.
