The Fort, Glasgow - DeltaWing-90 panels
The Fort is a major ‘out of town’ shopping and leisure park located just outside Glasgow. It has been hugely successful and a 2013 extension included five new restaurants and a multi-screen cinema. Further shops and restaurants were added in 2015.
The continuing development created a need for an attractive solution for the screening and secure storage of refuse. The sloping site initially required the formation of retaining walls. This resulted in a concrete bay around which the proposed 1800mm high enclosure had to be designed.
Lang+Fulton undertook a site survey, provided design calculations from their Consulting Engineers for wind loading and produced full working drawings. They recommended the choice of DeltaWing-90 panels, an extremely robust steel louvre, which delivers a high level of security and 90% visual screening.
The posts were made with base plates for bolting to the slab foundation and a double-leaf gate for access. All components were hot-dip galvanized for a long-lasting durable finish.
