Edinburgh University: Barrot Floor Grating

An 1853 Surgical Hospital in the Italian Renaissance style by Scotland’s renowned architect, David Bryce, is now home to the Department of Geoscience at Edinburgh University.

An external floor grating solution was required for the pedimented Doric entrance to the historic B-listed building. Lang+Fulton’s specialist Barrot grating was chosen which provides pedestrian comfort with a wide bearing surface and a non-slip dimpled surface.

The panels were shaped to neatly fit the existing stone detail of the entrance and the curvature of the classical columns.

The panels were hot-dip galvanized for a durable, long lasting finish.
