Corten Panels next to the River Seine in Paris

Cemex Matériaux is a leading supplier of building materials in France. Their Paris depot for aggregates is situated at a prime location on the banks of the Seine at Port de Point du Jour, Quai Saint-Exupéry.

Lang+Fulton supplied 110 panels (256 m2) of Italia/80 Corten steel panels as a decorative wall cladding for the office building and weighbridge checkout. The louvred panels were framed with a 60×5 flat bar on both vertical sides for hanging from galvanized support bracketry. Five special hinged panels were designed with frames on all four sides and gas struts for opening, as well as three panels with a slotted frame to connect to a slide-opening mechanisms.

The Corten Steel panels were pickled in order to speed up the ageing process; the transitioning through various shades of orange and red before developing a deep earthy-brown patina.
