Francis Crick Institute: stainless steel gate
A prestigious stainless steel gate, which complements the architectural detailing of the building, has completed the perimeter security at the Francis Crick Institute. The new Institute is a world-leading centre of biomedical research and innovation at St Pancras in the heart of London.
The 10 metre wide gate was primarily made up of two bi-folding leaves with infill panels of DemiMetro-66 pressure locked grating with a robust 30x4mm bearing bar. The panels were framed and bolted within a 120x80mm RHS frame.
A separate pedestrian entrance with push pad panic latch was included within the overall gate and was made 81mm longer than the other leaves in order to maintain a constant height of 2.5 metres and a clearance of 120mm on the sloping ground.
The marine grade stainless steel was supplied in a brushed finish (240 grit).
