Holy Trinity Primary School in Dalston

Holy Trinity Primary School in Dalston has replaced an older school on the same site, challenging standard models of mixed-use development. With no funding available and an urgent need in inner London for school places, the new two-form entry primary school was subsidised by incorporating private sale apartments within the same project. The multi award-winning scheme by Rock Townsend Architects has received exceptional recognition.

The provision and quality of outside space was prioritised by incorporating a pair of open decks on the second floor and maximising the play space around the building at ground level. A DeltaWing-90V louvred fence with vertical louvres was used to create a semi-transparent screen to increase the sense of space within the playground area while providing an appropriate level of security and privacy for young pupils.

The fencing was supplied in various heights to suit the openings within a brick wall and the varied palette included timber infill panels to the gates.
