Carlton House, Ilford East London
Carlton House is a new-build development of affordable homes at 501 High Road, Ilford in the London Borough of Redbridge. In addition to a mix of 90 studios and apartments, it will include a cultural and banqueting facility which, it is hoped, will serve as a catalyst in the regeneration of the area.
Each apartment benefits from an outside space with the balcony balustrades forming a significant feature to the overall design of the building.
Lang+Fulton supplied the infill panels for the balconies, which in total amounted to 900 units. These were manufactured from Demi-Quattro-44, a pressure locked grating with a square aperture and unequal flat bars (25x2mm and 10x2mm). The 45x5mm framing bar was made with slotted lugs with the tolerance to fix to the structural posts, which were supplied by others.
The balustrade panels were supplied in a hot-dip galvanized finish.
